24” Lanternier Cherie Bisque Head French Doll Compo GORGEOUS Antique Clothes HH
I am selling my larger and child size dolls to make room for all my chinas and other French dolls so I say adieu to my beautiful Cherie. I want her to go to someone who appreciates the French girls but perhaps cannot afford a JUMEAU or other high end French doll. Lanternier is a great way to get a real French doll at a great price, like an SFBJ. Sort of the entry level to the French dolls world as it was for me.
She stands 24 " tall in her composition and wood body painted a pinky flesh. Bisque head is marked Lanternier, Cherie 9, Limoges and is perfect. Free of any issues, see photos with light inside showing the shadows of plaster, cork, as you can see from photo of inside of head. The bisque has no issues at all.
Beautiful high coloring and smile. A VERY pretty Lanternier face. She is wearing a gorgeous mauve and pink and salmon antique/vintage dress I acquired many years ago and adapted to fit her, with some hand stitching rather than cutting any seams etc. There are a few old stains but nothing that detracts from her appearance.. I added snaps at upper back for easy fitting. I even made her a bustle that ties around under her dress to puff the back up a bit. The bustle ties around the waist with pretty ribbon. With a saddle type stand you can even add her a nice bigger hoop type slip or bustle to get a bit more pouf in the back of the dress. The dress has a period style train in design, longer in back.
She has a dark brown shiny human hair wig with bangs. Newer cardboard pate. Complimentary straw hat that ties under chin. Set blown glass blue eyes. Pierced ears w wires left from possibly antique earrings so she needs some beads or dangly added to them or new earrings. She has an open mouth with 6 teeth as typical. Underwear includes pantaloons w lace trim hem, buttoned full slip. Beautiful mauve and salmon rayon taffeta type fabric hand made dress trimmed in lace and faux pearls. Antique pink straw hat embellished with ribbons and flowers that ties with ribbon. Human hair deep brown wig with bangs, attached to pate but pate removed to stuff head for shipping. No issues to composition.
She wears vintage cotton socks and vintage super hard to find two strap oilcloth shoes that tie with silk ribbons. I would probably add longer ribbons to tie bows, unfortunately having my hand in a cast from surgery I can't do much like that currently.
The Lanternier dolls often vary in appearance and this one IMO is a really prettty one that displays beautifully!
